Why should your countertop be sealed?
Granite countertops are known for their durability, but they can be susceptible to damage from moisture due to the presence of pores in the stone. The pores can become discolored and structurally damaged when moisture seeps into them.
One way to protect your granite countertops from these issues is by sealing them. Sealing granite adds a protective layer that prevents liquids from penetrating the pores of the stone, so spills and messes can simply be wiped away without leaving a stain.
Keep in mind that while granite is naturally resistant to staining, some liquids like grease, wine, and dark juices can still cause permanent stains if they are allowed to soak into the pores of the stone. Sealing your granite countertops can help prevent this from happening.

How Often Should my Countertops be Sealed?
We recommend that your granite and natural stone countertops be sealed once a year, more often if your countertops receive a lot of wear. Darker countertops tend to be less porous than lighter-colored countertops; therefore, they don’t need to be sealed as often.
